Marina Capdevila draws from her background as an illustrator. The Spanish artist deliberately uses bold colours. She focuses on older people and their drive. Inspired by her grandmother, she creates energetic portraits - highlighting their underrepresentation in art and media. At times, a political note appears - the watermelons clearly signal her support for the Palestinian people.
