From the material to the title and concept, Schellekens and Peleman, a Belgian artists' collective, always ensure that poetry, humor and irony permeate their work. In this way, the two visual artists hope to give us a moment to reflect on society and the world, and in order to do so they are more than happy to omit the conventional paths. Take “Inflatable Refugee” for example, an iconic 6 meter high inflatable refugee, made with material from the boats with which refugees braved the sea.
These temporary art installations can no longer be visited in Ostend.
