What Alexis Diaz is unleashing on the world can – if anything – be called iconic. His large, imaginative drawings are extremely detailed. Before starting on his work in Ostend, Alexis Diaz visited the municipal museum for inspiration, where he discovered the old coat of arms of the city and the story of the three keys in one of the books on display. With that myth in the back of his mind, Diaz designed a new coat of arms for Ostend, featuring a mermaid, a seagull and whales.
This work of art was originally displayed in the Kapellestraat and later on Oosteroever, but can now no longer be viewed in Ostend.
